Father’s Day at Wizeline: Showcasing WizeDads Globally

Father’s Day is a holiday recognizing the contribution that fathers and father figures make to their children’s lives. This day celebrates fatherhood and male parenting.

To commemorate Father’s Day this year, we asked WizeDads worldwide to tell us what they love most about being a father, share their favorite Father’s Day memories, and provide some advice for working dads. 👨‍👧‍👦

Favorite thing about being a father: As a father, I love that each day is an adventure. Of course, you don’t know how it’s going to go, but what’s for sure is that you’ll end up tired!

Father’s Day tradition: For Father’s Day, we don’t have a particular tradition, but, after six years, my house is full of handmade presents for this day.

Advice for dads: Sometimes we are tired or busy, but we should do our best to make sure this doesn’t affect the way we speak to our children or our focus on them.

Jaime Barrio, QA Engineer – Sevilla, Spain 🇪🇸

Favorite thing about being a father: I love that I can teach and transfer values, knowledge, and experiences to my kid while learning a lot from him. The way my kid sees life is sometimes unique and enlightening, focused on the moment and enjoying the present.

Father’s Day tradition: We have no established tradition for Father’s Day, but I remember vividly the first drawing and writing that my son made as a present for me. It was very heartfelt and loving.

Advice for dads: Make sure to enjoy and appreciate every moment with your kids as they grow. Treat them with love, passion, and a well-structured routine, and above all, tell them that you love them every day.

Francisco Bueno, Site Reliability Engineer – Guadalajara, México 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: I love that she is not only my daughter, but she is also my little best friend.

Father’s Day tradition: Since there’s a lockdown in Ho Chi Minh City because of the pandemic, we’ll celebrate our first Father’s Day by baking cream cakes together.

Advice for dads: Kids ask so many questions, and as fathers, we must stay calm and answer their questions.

Phuong Le, Site Reliability Engineer – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 🇻🇳

Favorite thing about being a father: I love being his role model. When he mimics me doing yoga or says that he wants to work with the computer, I feel delighted.

Father’s Day tradition: One cool memory I have was last Father’s Day. Due to the pandemic, we stayed home, and my wife and son made me breakfast. While we were eating, there was a little cupcake that my son ate bit by bit, and when I was ready to eat it, it was half gone!

Advice for dads: I would say: “Always make time to play with your kids.” Sometimes a complex coding feature is less challenging to code after playing with your son or daughter.

Mario Alberto Gonzalez Lopez, Senior Software Engineer – Aguascalientes, Mexico 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: I love that being a father gives me a lot of fun times. Of course, I get tired sometimes, but those sweet memories fulfill my life.

Father’s Day tradition: We don’t have a particular tradition for Father’s Day. We go out to have some family outdoor activities and then come back home for a special dinner.

Advice for dads: Being a working dad is not simple, especially when you have sons. Balancing the time you spend on your work and family is very important. Don’t wait until the weekend; create time during the week to play with your kids. Don’t play with your kids with work on your mind. Talking and sharing with kids about your work also helps you make a good connection with your kids. Help them understand your work and the importance of being responsible.

Hoa Ta, Senior Project Manager at Wizeline – Da Lat, Vietnam 🇻🇳

Favorite thing about being a father: I especially love being able to share my passions and hobbies with my son. I enjoy watching cartoons, playing video games, getting hugs, seeing him grow, and being there to defeat his and my fears.

Father’s Day tradition: For Father’s Day, we usually have a family lunch.

Advice for dads: Don’t worry, because sometimes being too worried can be harmful. I suffered from anxiety because of this. Just let things happen — you, your partner, and your kid will be alright!

Rodrigo Loyola, Software Engineer – Guanajuato, Mexico 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: I discovered that there are strong emotions and feelings stored in me, which have been awakened since the arrival of my son. It’s a beautiful feeling.

Father’s Day tradition: To celebrate, I share a meal with my family, spend time together, and have fun.

Advice for dads: Work is important, but family is more important, so please try to spend more time with them.

Victor Morales, Functional QA – Guadalajara, Mexico 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: I love that they are bilingual, and we can communicate in sign language. I love to witness their efforts to accomplish their goals in gymnastics, riding a bicycle, and swimming. I also enjoy their ideas, creativity, and their independence.

Father’s Day tradition: We don’t really celebrate Father’s Day, but I enjoy every present (mostly letters) that they write to me for no special reason and on no special day.

Advice for dads: Take the opportunity to work from home to spend time with and enjoy your kids.

Alfonso Balderas, Software Engineer – Queretaro, México 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: I love that moment when my daughter learns something new that I just taught her.

Father’s Day tradition: My favorite Father’s Day memory was last year when my daughter woke me up with a kiss on my head.

Advice for dads: Spend as much time as you can with your children. Trust me; time flies by too quickly.

Guillermo Morales Marchebout, Software QA Engineer – Guadalajara, México 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: Raising a kid is constant feedback. You immediately know when you messed up or when you did a good deed. Taking that feedback and improving upon it is very satisfying; you constantly see how your kid is growing to be a beautiful and compassionate human being.

Father’s Day tradition: We have a Magnolia tree in Ajijic, which is part of the family. We visit him every year and have lunch together with my parents.

Advice for dads: Work is essential, and boundaries need to be set so you can keep yourself productive. But there is nothing more important than your kid’s joy, peace, dreams, and time. These are things that, once broken or gone, will never come back. You’ll never see your five-year-old learning to ride a bike a second time or your baby saying their first word. Treasure their innocence and transparency, for you are the only guardian of that. You are their keeper, and they trust you completely.

Jakob Renpening, Software Engineer – Guadalajara, México 🇲🇽

Favorite thing about being a father: I love watching my twin daughters grow with so many talents and virtues — at their age, I had not read as many books. I am learning from them and being supportive of them.

Father’s Day tradition: I remember a poem that my daughters recited for Father’s Day when they were 3 or 4 years old. It is the most moving thing I have ever heard.

Advice for dads: Spend as much time as possible with your children because years pass in the blink of an eye. Create strong bonds so that they return gladly to visit you once in a while, even if they are independent.
